Host Volunteer Application Form

Important: Before you apply for a host volunteer placement, we would like to make you aware of the nature of the work you will be undertaking and the commitment you are making.

You will need to be prepared for the following on a daily basis:- working in very hot and humid conditions- performing tours every hour, sometimes in front of a lot of people (up to 30 people in high season)- facing sometimes emotionally challenging situations and dealing with the flow of incoming patients, sometimes emergencies, for the vet clinic- representing LAW by your smile, your attitude and your professionalism in every situation.

Volunteering at LAW is extremely rewarding but it is a real commitment, not a holiday. In the past we have had volunteers cancelling their placements last minute or quitting early, and this is what happens if you do that:- LAW is left short of help and it is usually far too late for us to replace you as we can not find people at such short notice.- Extra stress and pressure, not to mention a lot of extra work, is placed on our other volunteers and our staff.- A willing and committed volunteer will have been refused a place at that time because it was being held for you.

If you can follow through on your obligations to your placement as a volunteer, you will be in for one of the most rewarding and memorable experiences of your life !

Important information:
Care for our animals is obviously required 365 days a year.
Hosts work from 9am to 5pm, with two days off a week.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that volunteers who arrive together as friends will always have the same days off or work the same shifts. The rota is designed for the good of the centre and the animals first and foremost. If we have enough volunteers, we may be ableto accommodate specific requests but this cannot be guaranteed.

Release waiver of liability, and covenant not to sue.
The undersigned hereby acknowledges that participation in volunteer work with animals involves an inherent risk of physical injury and assumes all such risks. The undersigned hereby agrees that for the sole consideration of Lanta Animal Welfare allowing the undersigned to participate in voluntary employment in connection there with, and making available to the undersigned for his/her use while participating in any tasks or activities, certain equipment, facilities, grounds, or personnel of Lanta Animal Welfare, the undersigned participant does hereby waive liability, release and forever dischargeLanta Animal Welfare, its members individually, its officers, agents, or employees from any and all demands, rights, and causes of action of whateverkind or nature, arising out of all known and unknown, forseen and unforeseen bodily and personal injuries, damage to property, and the consequences thereof, including death, regardless of whether there is active or passive negligence or fault on the part of Lanta Animal Welfare, resulting from my voluntary participation in or in any way connected with such tasks or activities.
I further covenant and agree that for the sole consideration stated above I will not sue Lanta Animal Welfare, its members individually, its officers, agents or employees for any claim for damages arising or growing out of my voluntary participation in tasks or activities.
I understand that the acceptance of this release, waiver of liability and covenant not to sue Lanta Animal Welfare or any agent or employee thereof, shall not constitute a waiver, in whole or in part, of sovereign or official immunity by Lanta Animal Welfare, its members, officers, agents and employees.
This release, waiver of liability and covenant not to sue Lanta Animal Welfare shall remain in effect foras long as I am a volunteer employee at Lanta Animal Welfare.
