Poor Harry got his right back leg broken. We took him to the vet, who said that the wounds were too severe to fix and that amputation was the best solution for his case…

But Harry doesn’t go down so easily, so after a major surgery and a couple of weeks of TLC he’s back on his legs and jumping around like a rabbit!!

We have decided not to send him back to his previous home as it is too close from the road and clearly Harry has no notion of the danger of cars, so he’s up for adoption again and next time we’ll make sure that his future home is in the middle of nowhere with no modern vehicles to run under!

A new person was due to start mid July but unfortunately won’t be able to make it so it is maybe a great opportunity for you,who are out there, who have experience in management and a will to help our 4 legs friends.

Here is the description of the position:

Location:

Pra-Ae, Long Beach, Koh Lanta, Krabi, 81150 Thailand

Clinic opening hours:

Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm

Saturday: 8am to 1pm

The clinic is closed to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays due to our efforts to catch stray animals over these 2 days (we are of course open for emergencies).

Job description:

At the clinic:

-        Assisting the vet (with surgeries and emergencies)

-        Reception and record of all animals that comes to clinic (pets and strays)

-        Dealing with customers’ payments/donations

-        Purchasing medical supplies (medicine, equipments, drugs)

-        Provide basic care to animals when there’s no vet on the island

At the kennel:

-        Organizing medical care (vaccinations, medicines, wound bandaging, flea/tick treatment, etc)

-        Purchasing food and shelter supplies

-        Introducing the shelter to volunteers and visitors

-        Coordinating the help of regular volunteers

-        Being present and knowledgeable for adoption appointments

-        Insuring the well being of all animals at the shelter (monitoring dogs for signs of illness, checking to make sure the dogs are placed in the most appropriate enclosures, and making sure that all the dogs are well adjusted and receiving the necessary affection).

-        Creating an education program for local schools

-        Answering people inquiries in person and on the phone

-        Supervising at least one animal caretaker and cover the daily tasks when this person is off

-        General administration tasks (accounts, filing animals files,…)

-        Mapping and catching stray dogs

-        Organising mobile clinic on the island and around

Charity development:

-        Fund raising (organising dispatch and collect of donations boxes and vouchers)

-        Updating the website and facebook page

-        Finding sponsorship, applying for grants

-        Registering the charity

-        General relationship with locals

Qualities required:

-        Love for animals

-        Very good organizational and managing skills

-        Good social and communication skills to deal with pets owners, volunteers and local communities

-        Being able to work in team as well as independently

-        Hard worker

-        Fluency in English essential

-        Thai language knowledge not essential but is an advantage

-        Initiatives

-        Being able to improvise in difficult or uncommon situations

-        Medical experience with animals is an advantage

-        “Hands on” personality

A big thank you to Jack from Panorama Resort and Restaurant to give Mama a good home.

She has been though so much that she well deserve it!

After having been saved from the hole she was hiding, a difficult spaying surgery and a poisoning (probably by playing with some poisonous creatures…), she finally got home save!

Good luck to her and Jack!!

And her 3 puppies have gone to their new home a couple of days ago. Their have an amazing place and we feel very grateful to Juck and her husband for taking them in.

It wasn’t very difficult to fall in love with these little monsters!! Our team went there to help the future owners to build a small house for the siblings so they can have their own place to sleep, eat and feel secure.

Their other dog has now something to look after!

She’s from Udon Thani (North East of Thailand) and came to Koh Lanta for some work.
